Colorado Springs is a beautiful city with endless hot real estate and the perfect backdrop to go with it all. History 

Before this community was a community, it was inhabited by Native Americans such as the Ute, Cheyenne, and Arapaho. They survived on this land by living in the red rock canyons and drinking from the mineral springs that run through what is today, Manitou Springs. The city of Colorado Springs was founded in 1871 by General William Jackson Palmer who had a vision for a small but sophisticated town. Shortly after the city was founded General Palmer opened the Antler’s Hotel in downtown Colorado Springs, where it remains a functioning hotel. The city became a popular destination quickly and became a most-visited place in the United States. Today, Colorado Springs is still a very sophisticated community in which it has the charm of a small town, but size and destinations of a large city. 

 

Schools 

This community is home to several school districts and a lot of high performing schools. The very first high school in this community was named Colorado Springs High School, and it’s still open today but is now called William J. Palmer High School. It’s located right in the center of downtown, across from the statute of General Palmer on his horse. Colorado Springs is also home to the largest charter school in the state, The Classical Academy.

Weather

In Colorado Springs conditions can vary from one end of town to the other. However, the community overall has very pleasant weather. Precipitation in Colorado Springs doesn’t play a huge factor in the everyday weather, aside from in the winter; the occasional blizzard will pop up. Colorado offers roughly 300 days of sunshine a year and little to no humidity in this semi-arid climate. Geography is everything for Colorado Springs. The city itself sits just over a mile above sea level (6,035 feet) and is positioned on the eastern edge of the Colorado Rockies. Colorado Springs is a high desert surrounded by more high desert and high plains. Due to this, hot and dry summers can make for high fire danger.

Also, Colorado Springs has a large military population due to the numerous military installations. The installations include Ft. Carson, Peterson Air Force Base, Schriever Air Force Base, The United States Air Force Academy, and Cheyanne Mountain Air Base. Civilians are not allowed on any of the bases, but the Air Force Academy is open to the public and is a very popular tourist attraction.
