History

This community was started about 20 years ago and is a master planned community that has lived up to its vision. Cordera is a smaller community located within the Briargate community. The idea behind Briargate was for it to be a family-oriented community that provides everything a modern family in today’s society would need to sustain a comfortable life. This community has blossomed and grown to include communities such as Cordera and Pine Creek. Briargate offers very high quality real estate, some of the best education in the state, numerous retail and professional opportunities, and all is within a short walk or drive. 


Public Works for Cordera

Cordera homes are served by Colorado Springs Utilities, a four-service public utility service providing, electricity, natural gas, wastewater and water.  This is a community based utility company where decisions are made here in Colorado Springs and board members are voted in by community citizens.


Cordera Schools

Cordera is part of popular School District 20. The Colorado Springs Business Journal named District 20 the Best Local School District. Academy District 20 consistently maintains high academic achievement levels and testing scores as well as an exceptionally high number of graduates that continue on to higher education. 

Throughout District 20 there are many schools, they include: Mountain View Elementary, Academy Endeavor Elementary, Explorer Elementary, Challenger Middle School, Mountain Ridge Middle School, Timberview Middle School, Rampart High School, Liberty High School, Pine Creek High School, and Aspen Valley High School. 

Located within District 20 is the largest charter school in Colorado, The Classical Academy. This school was previously rated first out of all Colorado public high schools by Colorado Schools.


Weather

Residents in this community can expect December and January to be the coldest months, with the rest of the year being highly enjoyable temperatures. Colorado offers roughly 300 days of sunshine a year and little to no humidity in this semi-arid climate. Precipitation accumulation in this community is rather low, therefore residents in Cordera can expect to enjoy the outdoors and Colorado lifestyle to the fullest. 

 

Restaurants & Geography

Located near the Cordera community there is a host of restaurants and places to eat. The Shops at Briargate offer a variety of upscale options like: PF Changs, Biaggi’s, Modern Market, Ted’s Montana Grill, Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar, Panera, Qdoba, Bird Dog BBQ, etc. 

Beyond The Shops at Briargate are restaurants all along the Powers Corridor. There is an abundance of chain and locally owned restaurants and place to grab a bite along both of these major roadways. They include: Red Robin, Old Chicago, Texas Roadhouse, Chili’s, On the Border, Tucano’s, 3 Margaritas, Chipotle, Panera, Olive Garden, Bubba’s 33, etc. 

Geography is everything for Colorado Springs. The city itself sits just over a mile above sea level (6,035 feet) and is positioned on the eastern edge of the Colorado Rockies. Colorado Springs is a high desert surrounded by more high desert and high plains. Due to this, hot and dry summers can make for high fire danger. 

 

Neighborhoods

Due to the northern location of Cordera the surrounding neighborhoods are: Black Forest, Glen Eagle Northgate, and Colorado Springs. Cordera is located on north eastern side of Colorado Springs there it also is surrounded by Falcon and Peyton further east. 

 

Attractions

Amenities in this community are a huge attraction. Since this community was designed to foster such a family environment, the amenities featured in this community are top notch. Cordera features access to an 8,200 square foot community center, a large five-acre Grand Lawn Park, and even storybook themed parks; for all the families to appreciate. There is also a multitude of shopping in this community. The upscale Promenade Shops at Briargate are very popular and are even dog friendly. A short drive from Cordera is the Chapel Hills Mall, which offers a large indoor venue. If those two venues aren’t enough, Cordera is just right off of the Powers Corridor which hosts a plethora of shopping, dining, and recreational activities to explore. But beyond just shopping, this community has plenty of outdoor walking trails and hiking that can be enjoyed as well. 

Colorado Springs has a multitude of places to explore. When venturing into the city of Colorado Springs perhaps the most beautiful site in the city is Garden of the Gods. This natural red sandstone creation is stunning and one of the most popular attractions in the city, bringing people from all over the United States. A few minutes west of Colorado Springs is Manitou, which has several unique shops and places to eat. There is also a penny arcade for children to enjoy. Further to the mountains there is the Cog Railway which is a train that will take individuals up the mountain, to the top of the famous Pikes Peak. One of the best zoo’s in the nation is located in Colorado Springs, The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. It hosts a wide variety of animals and is nestled just perfectly into Cheyenne Mountain; making the views spectacular. 

In addition, to everything that Cordera offers, it’s also located close to several military installations. The installations include: Ft. Carson, Peterson Air Force Base, Schriever Air Force Base, The United States Air Force Academy, and Cheyanne Mountain Air Base. Civilians are not allowed on any of the bases, but the Air Force Academy is open to the public, and is a very popular tourist attraction.
