History

Little history is provided on this specific community, however Colorado Springs features a very interesting and educational history. Colorado Springs was founded in 1871 by General William Jackson Palmer. He had a vision for a small but sophisticated town; it quickly became one of the most visited places in the United States. Then later in 1890 the Colorado Gold Rush finally made it to the Pike’s Peak area and it became a huge attraction tens of thousands of people. Even today there is still active gold mines up in Cripple Creek Colorado. Colorado Springs and its surrounding areas are great because they work together to be one big community but still have a privacy that is respected.

Gleneagle is served by several utility companies including; Colorado Springs Utilities, AmeriGas, Mountain View Electric, Black Hills Energy Aquila and Donala Water and Sanitation. Fire Protection is provided by the Donald Wescott Fire Department. Police protection is provided by the El Paso County Sherriff’s office.


Schools

Gleneagle is perfectly placed within Academy School District 20, which offers some of the best performing schools in all of Colorado Springs. District 20 is so well known in Colorado Springs as one of the best districts, because they consistently maintain high test scores and high academic achievement. Throughout District 20 there are many schools, the ones located near Gleneagle are: Palmer Ridge High School, The Da Vinci Academy, Lewis Palmer Elementary School, Discovery Canyon Campus School, Creekside Elementary School, Antelope Trails Elementary School, Air Academy High School, and Prairie Winds Elementary School. 


Weather 

In Gleneagle residents can expect the weather to be relatively the same as Colorado Springs, however it will vary slightly just because of the distance from the city and geographic location. Colorado Springs is gorgeous year round with an average of 300 days of sunshine a year. Living in Gleneagle residents will get to experience all four seasons, with pleasant temperatures throughout. Just a short drive south from Gleneagle is the Promenade Shops at Briargate, who feature dining options such as: PF Changs, Biaggi’s, Modern Market, Ted’s Montana Grill, Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar, Panera, Qdoba, and Bird Dog BBQ. If these options aren’t enough, there are a host of great local restaurants in the Colorado Springs downtown area!

Gleneagle covers about 2.5 square miles and is located at a slightly higher elevation than Colorado Springs at 6,926 feet. The geography of Colorado Springs and the surrounding area’s is very unique because it allows for residents to live a secluded mountain or country life, but yet be within minutes of a city that has everything you could ever need. Gleneagle neighborhoods consist of Jackson Creek, a master planned community with more traditional neighborhoods and homes. It is family friendly and convenient to schools and amenities. It offers several different subdivisions including; Carriage Point, Copper Ridge, Homestead, Creekside, Lariat Ranch, The Heights, Remington Hill and Settlers Ridge. Sun Hills is a community just east of Gleneagle that offers five acre lots and zoned for horses. Homes here can range from $400,000 to over $1,000,000.

Garden of the Gods brings people from all over the United States because of its beauty. The natural red sandstone is not only beautiful, but also a blast to for children to explore and climb all over. Colorado Springs also offers the Cog Railway, which takes guests up to the top of Pike’s Peak where they can experience the beauty and unique weather at the top of a mountain. Another very popular attraction in the nearby Colorado Springs is the Olympic Training Center. Here the guests can take a tour of the facility and see exactly where Olympic athletes train for the games. 

In addition, with Gleneagle being located so close to the Air Force Academy it has a large military population. There are also several other military installations located within a short drive of Gleneagle, they include: Ft. Carson, Peterson Air Force Base, Schriever Air Force Base, The United States Air Force Academy, and Cheyanne Mountain Air Base.
