Indigo Ranch is a fairly new community and is a part of the larger community of Colorado Springs, therefore its history is grounded by the city’s history. Colorado Springs was founded in 1871 by General William Jackson Palmer. At the time the city was founded it was primarily used for railroad trade, but it quickly became a very popular destination within the United States. The sheer beauty of Colorado Springs brought tourists from all over, and the city rapidly grew. Today, Colorado Springs still has the small town charm it always has, but has all the amenities of a big city. 

Public Works 

Indigo Ranch Colorado Springs homes are serviced by Colorado Springs Utilities, a four-service public utility service, providing electricity, natural gas, waste water and water all in one convenient bill.  This is a community based utility company where decisions are made here in Colorado Springs and board members are voted in by community citizens.


The school district that has schools located in and near this community is School District 49. The schools located in this community include: Stetson Elementary School, Skyview Middle School, and Vista Ridge High School.


The weather in the Indigo Ranch community reflects that of the Colorado Springs weather. Overall Colorado Springs offers pleasant temperatures year round. Residents here get to experience all four seasons, with the winter not being completely unbearable. Even in the winter time the temperatures are warm enough to get outside and play in the snow. Colorado has roughly 300 days of sunshine a year and little to no humidity, making it perfect for getting outside and experiencing all Colorado has to offer.

Indigo Ranch is the prime located for easy access to great cuisine in Colorado Springs. The Powers Corridor is just minutes away and offers miles of great dining options, from fast food to upscale dining, Powers has it all. Some of the best dining options along Powers include: Tucanos Brazilian Grill, Fox & Hound Pub & Grille, Ai Sushi & Grill, Texas Roadhouse, Bubba’s 33, Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery, and Five Guys Burgers and Fries. If something more local is more your style, the downtown and west side area of Colorado Springs has all the best local restaurants. Some of the best local dining options include: The Rabbit Hole, Shuga’s, Phantom Canyon, Jack Quinn Irish Ale House & Pub, Odyssey Gastropub, Rasta Pasta, King’s Chef Diner, and The Skirted Heifer. Between The Powers Corridor, Academy Boulevard, and the Downtown area, there are plenty of great spots to eat in Colorado Springs. Lastly, for those who enjoy a fancy night out, there are lots of upscale dining options as well, they include: -Melting Pot, Pepper Tree Restaurant, Famous Steak House, and the array of restaurants located in and around The Broadmoor Hotel. 

Geography is a very important aspect of Colorado because it’s one of the main attractions of the state. Colorado Springs sits just over a mile high in elevation, and is covered in mountainous terrain. Indigo Ranch is perfectly located along Powers, which offers many attractions for everyone to enjoy. Just a few moments away in Indigo Springs is Security Service Field, home to Colorado Springs infamous minor league baseball team. Also located on Powers is the Cinemark Movie Theaters, It’z Family Fun Center, two very elegant fitness centers, spas and pools, and two golf courses. The Powers Corridor offers endless fun and entertainment. Venturing further into Colorado Springs there are numerous other great attractions to visit. Garden of the Gods is one of the most popular places in all of Colorado Springs, because of its gorgeous red sandstone formations. People travel from all over the United States to take pictures, and climb all over at Garden of the Gods. Another special attraction is the Cog Railway. The train takes guests up the mountain all the way to the top of Pike’s Peak. While up there guests can look through the gift shop, warm up and grab some hot chocolate. The view from the top of the mountain is truly one of a kind and will remain a great memory for anyone who goes. Located right next to the Cog Railway is the Manitou Incline. This is something the wild Colorado Springs locals like to do for fun, it is a one mile hike up the mountain with a climb in 2,000 feet of elevation. The Manitou incline is extremely difficult for first timers, but it’s a very popular hiking destination for everyone in the community. Colorado Springs is a very active community, however there are plenty of less active things to do as well, like read in under a tree a Memorial Park, or even go to the Broadmoor Hotel and get a relaxing massage at their spa. There will never be a day in this community where there is absolutely nothing to do. 

In addition, to all these fun activities Colorado Springs has a large military population because of the many military installations located here. The installations include: Ft. Carson, Peterson Air Force Base, Schriever Air Force Base, The United States Air Force Academy, and Cheyanne Mountain Air Base.
