History

The Powers community has been a long project started way back in 1963. The name, Powers, for this community and the Powers Corridor, comes from the fact that the power lines for the United States Air Force Academy used to run through this stretch of land up north. Ever since the 1960’s this community has been in nonstop growth mode, and only brought great additions to the city of Colorado Springs. This city was founded in 1871 by General William Jackson Palmer and he had a vision to create a small sophisticated town. What he built was just that, Colorado Springs became one of the most visited places in the United States, at the time. Since then the city has evolved into the big city with a small town charm. The history and art of the city are beautiful and reflect the Native American roots of the land.
