Colorado Springs is a very active community. In fact, it's almost as if athletes are grown here. Colorado Springs has sent more athletes to the Olympic games than any other state in America. Commonly, Colorado Springs is referred to as the Olympic City as it is home to the United States Olympic Committee Headquarters and the Olympic Training Center.

Yes, Colorado Springs does get the occasional snow, but it doesn't usually amount to much compared to other Northern Colorado cities. Colorado Springs has hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails throughout and stunning geographical features like Garden of the Gods and Seven Falls.
Garden of the Gods is a public park that features large formations of red sandstone rocks, and Seven Falls is a set of cascading waterfalls tucked between residential areas of town. Skiing and snowboarding are available within a few hour's drive to ski resorts such as Vail or Aspen for even more recreation opportunities.
While Colorado Springs is slightly more expensive than the national average, the residents here tend to spend less money, and the average income is on par with the national average.
The city is fairly walkable, mostly in the historic downtown area but, a car is generally necessary to get around. There is public bus transportation available in the downtown area and major thoroughfares, with limited service through residential neighborhoods. In addition, there is a municipal airport that makes connections to Denver for national and international destinations more convenient.
Schools in Austin Estates
Austin Estates residents are part of the largest school district in the region, Colorado Springs School District 11, offering a challenging curriculum, college readiness, and various academic options to students.

According to Greatschools.org, James Irwin Charter school was given an excellent 8/10 rating, Globe Charter School, Rudy Elementary School, Thomas Maclaren State Charter School, Atlas Preparatory High School, Sand Creek International Elementary School, James Irwin Charter Elementary School and Soaring Eagles Elementary School all received a 7/10 rating, Wildflower Elementary School, James Irwin Charter Middle School, Atlas Preparatory Middle School, Horizon Middle School, Springs Studio for Academic Excellence, Penrose Elementary School all received a 6/10 rating.
While these ratings are above-average ratings, there are several still with an average or below-average rating. But, again, this is the largest school district in the region, so some schools struggle to match their counterparts.
