Mountain Shadows is a neighborhood that is located on the Northwest side of Colorado Springs. This neighborhood was once devastated by wildfires that destroyed hundreds of homes. When residents began to rebuild, they tended to build bigger homes. After such a devastating loss of land and property,, this community became much more aware of fire mitigation to protect themselves and their property. Mountain Shadows is very popular not only for the easy commutes and nice views but, primarily for its natural beauty. The neighborhood sits at the foothills of the Rampart Range offering abundant wildlife, amazing panoramic views over the eastern plains.
Mountain Shadows Park and Mountain Shadows Open Range are located in the neighborhood providing many additional outdoor conveniences to the residents. The park is handicap accessible and offers many activities such as horseshoe pits, volleyball, multi-use fields, playground, picnic shelter, multi-use trails and more. The Mountain Shadows neighborhood is also close to The Garden of the Gods offering visitors with a variety of interests from front range climbing, Jeep and Segway Tours, biking (even electric bikes), and various adventure programs.
Schools in Mountain Shadows
Students of Mountain Shadows are assigned to the Colorado Springs School District 11. The schools within the district that are assigned to the Mountain Shadows neighborhood are Chipeta Elementary School, Holmes Middle School, and Coronado High School as the primary schools. Of course, if a different school is preferred residents can apply to attend another school. According to Greatschools.org, Chipeta Elementary School was given a 9/10 rating, Holmes Middle School and Coronado High School received a 4/10 rating.
