Security-Widefield is a more mature neighborhood but still has a decent amount of construction taking place.

Security-Widefield offers a variety of parks to include Pi-Ute Park, Widick Field, Talbott Park and Windmill Mesa. The parks provide open grassy areas, playgrounds, pavilions, picnic areas, basketball courts, pickleball courts, ball fields, and walking trails depending on which park you decide to visit. Talbott Park offers a community garden for families, friends and neighbors to grow flowers or vegetables. The northeastern side of Security-Widefield, there is access to Bluestem Prairie Open Space that includes a 2.1 mile trail with stunning views of Big Johnson Reservoir. 

Schools in Security-Widefield

Widefield School District 3 offers public education to the students of the Security-Widefield neighborhoods. This district is home to two preschools, eight K-5 elementary schools, one K-8 charter school, three 6-8 junior high schools, two 9-12 high schools, an alternative high school and a virtual K-12 school. Four of the Widefield School District schools carry an innovation status by the Colorado Department of Education, they are Grand Mountain in computer science integration, King Elementary in project based learning received a 9/10 rating, Talbott STEAM Innovation School received a 5/10 rating, and Widefield Elementary School of the Arts received a 7/10 rating. 

There are multiple elementary schools offered throughout the Security-Widefield neighborhoods, Fox Meadow Middle School received a rating of 4/10 and Harrison High School received a 3/10 rating according to Greatschools.org are the primary schools for this neighborhood.

Homes in Security-Widefield mostly began being built between the 1950’s and 60’s; however homes have continued to be built throughout the years, even new construction still happening today. Home sizes usually range between 1,000 and 2,000 square feet.
